We may get a taste of it tomorrow. They're scheduled to vote on the AHCA in the House and, last I checked, it was still up in the air whether the GOP was going to be able to scrape together a majority or not.

They postponed the vote for whatever reason. Definitely looks like Trump/Republicans are going to fail on this one.

Republican caucus seems split between a big group who thinks the bill isn't nasty enough and want lots more cuts, and another group that seems to want a pony (big cuts in service, new tax breaks plus maintaining status quo). The chasm between these groups appears to be irreconcilable.

And from what I've been reading, it is the whole Medicaid program that is going to get seriously devastated by this bill.

Indeed. Trump the great dealmaker fails to make the deal. Ryan the supergenius legislator fails to pass the legislation (even though they have a big majority in the House).

As one blog noted, the Republicans have had seven years to plan for this moment. They've been running on this 'repeal and replace' thing for seven years and this is all they got!

This is fucking comedy.

There's an interesting (and concise) NY Times breakdown of the 33 GOP members who effectively killed the AHCA: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...smtyp=cur&_r=1

What I find most intriguing is that they come from across the political spectrum (at least from across the narrow swath of the spectrum which makes up the GOP). Neither the moderates nor the hard-liners could have stopped the bill on their own; they only did it by working together against the leadership.

I've got to think that speaks to how bad a piece of the legislation it was. To be rejected by multiple members from both sides of the party (and a number from the middle who usually go along with the leadership) you've got to have some serious and obvious problems.

Trump's ultimate problem is that he ran on White Socialism, and there's no good way to accomplish that.

I think that the Republican party is inherently disunited on healthcare policy as much as the Democratic party is equally disunited on foreign policy. There is no rational way to bridge those gaps.

Certainly not from inside the Republican party. White they can do, but socialism and Republicans is a politically challenging mixture.

So...apparently Trump does NOT actually want to revoke DACA...
Ann Coulter must be thrilled.
