Default UK elections, 8th of June, 2017

UK Prime Minister, Theresa May has announced that early elections will be called, this year, on June 8th, just two years after the last elections. The left-wing nut job Jeremy Corbyn is doing rubbish in the opinion polls, so unless Labour change their leader quickly to someone more normal, the Tories are likely to win a landslide election.

I wouldn't be so sure about expecting a landslide election. I just don't see that at all. And I've watched enough Parliamentary elections in my lifetime to know that when a party with a majority calls a snap election, it often backfires on them big time.

I see zero rational grounds for predicting the Tories could increase their lead. I see several scenarios where they could lose seats.

Let's hope.

Unfortunately, I don't see any scenarios that suggest the Conservatives might lose power.

Labour Party has a leader with zero charisma. That's always deadly in elections.

Lib-Dems are pretty damn wishy-washy and change what they stand for on a weekly basis and also lack a charismatic leader.

Anything can happen, but short of a major catastrophe, the Conservatives are likely to win. I just think they are more likely to end up loosing some seats rather than gaining some.

Labour has a leader who is a left-wing nut job, wouldn't you agree?

No, I wouldn't agree.

Not unless you apply that term fairly and call Elizabeth May a right-wing nutjob and every left or rightwinger gets called a nutjob as well.

That is to say, I've seen zero evidence that Corbyn's political views are unhinged from reality. I also might add that Corbyn's political views are not in conflict with the majority of his own party or supporters.

Well, the Conservative support has been in steady decline since May called the election, while Labour support has been steadily increasing, though not enough to win it.

Pretty much as I predicted a month ago. Tories will win, but with a reduced majority. Only question is how much will it be reduced by.

Btw, there is a general consensus that Corbyn's election manifesto has been very popular with the masses. Tory manifesto is decidedly not popular.

No results yet, but all the British media are reporting surprising exit poll data pointing to Labour doing rather well.

Some projections are showing the Conservatives may fall short of retaining their majority.

A lot of moderate Democrats seem pretty mad that the Corbyn Labour is doing well.

Fuck a moderate Democrat imho.

All this 'purity politics' on the left is getting tiresome. Hillary was some neocon warmonger, while Saunders & Corbyn are fanatical crazy socialists. This shit is nuts.

Anyone and anything is better than the rightwing fascists these days!
