I've also been listening to Elton's greatest hits lately. For me, I'd add Rocket Man and Crocadile Rock to the two you named. They are just such happy songs.

He really had quite a string of impressive hit songs in the 1970's.

My favourite Elton John song is Your Song.

And he had two wonderful songs in The Lion King, The Circle of Life and Can You Feel the Love Tonight.

I believe Elton John writes almost all his own tunes, but not the words. I believe he has declared himself incapable of writing song lyrics.

There is a surprisingly good movie called Gnomeo and Juliet. It is, as the name implies, an animated take on Romeo and Juliet played out across two yards by viciously partisan garden gnomes. Sounds ludicrous right? But it's actually really entertaining and even occasionally compelling.

But anyway, most of the soundtrack is Elton John, or arrangements of his songs, especially a motif of "Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting."

Kazbek Bydtaev, Never mind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MQU7Aw4wqg#t=17

I like this guy. He is from North Ossetia (that is in North Caucasus, if you do not know), not a rich guy, no powerful connections, has been promoting himself with cheap YouTube clips like these. As others not, filmed with a regular camera, the girls look like he may have picked them up at a local brothel or striptease club He jokes, in the caption for this one, that Cameron himself shot this for him Fact is, this particular song, Ne beda, never mind, earned him his big break. People love it, it is everywhere now, on VKontakte and Facebook walls, on Twitter, etc. As a result, back in December, some big producer invited him to Moscow and gave him a contract. So, he is going to actually be rich and famous now Very lucky guy, and talented too. Most self-promoting artists never make it here, it is not about talent in our show business, but about aforementioned money and connections... That is why I respect guys like Kazbek. They are like me, make themselves, instead of being made by others.

A little tribute to an old friend of mine. She died in gruesome and as of yet unexplained circumstances. Here's to you, B.

Speaking of epic music, Nightwish finally has a a suitable replacement for Tarja Turunen in the person of Floor Jansen and it seems to have given the band a new élan. Well, that's what I would call a 24 minute song about the whole history of the universe:

This particular video is not a Nightwish video btw, but fan made. None too shabby.

I've been listening to, and going to, a lot of punk lately.

Here's a defunct band called Ramshackle Glory. I'm hoping that Trump brings the lead guy out of "retirement." He quit making music right around the same time that I discovered his bands:

Easily the best show I've been to this year was a packed sweaty affair seeing this band, PUP, from Toronto:

Watched this gem last weekend: https://youtu.be/jMTI8vg7A5U

(If you're interested in watching more there are 12 episodes total. The whole thing can be knocked out in an hour)

Anywho, I've been listening to 'Yacht Rock' radio on Prime
