Smile I am back

Hello, all, I am back now, to Moscow and to the forum.

I was away all this time, helping out the war effort, so to speak

Was in Rostov,
  1. Seeing off some of our boys who have gone to fight as volunteers in Donetsk and elsewhere
  1. Overseeing the setting up of our small operation there: we have opened shop in Rostov, making armored vehicles for the Novorossiyan and Russian volunteer forces.
One of out armored up Ural trucks, on the border

Just doing our part They do need armor over there, as much as we can send them. Several security companies, bank transport firms, etc, are helping out, we are just one.

Another of our masterpieces

It is a Kamaz truck, without trailer, and covered in thick layers of sheet armor.

We do what we can for our brothers and sisters over there

I was wondering where you were. Glad to see you back.

I half suspected that to be honest.

You are part of the Russian military-industrial complex now!

I fear Nick isn't going to take your 'involvement' so lightly.

HimHimselfAndHe has always been open about his support for Putin - it's hardly a great surprise that he's selling war equipment to Putin's soldiers. I can only hope he's charging them a lot of money.

He's entitled to his views, I'm entitled to mine.

A. Michael, I doubt Nick and I will ever agree on this issue, just as we will never agree whether homosexuals should be able to marry each other in a church. That is fine by me. Diversity of views and opinions makes life more interesting

B. Nick, you will be shocked to know we are not, in fact, charging them anything for the armored vehicles. It is a charity thing. There are plenty of people and groups participating. I was just today talking to a friend, he is a lawyer. His firm just bought out an armored transport truck from a bank, paid to have it outfitted with more armor and a machine gun turret on top, and sent it to the rebels. Everyone who can is helping like that...

C. shekib82, I think Assad is the better guy in Syria, at least better than ISIS. But, I am against Russia getting involved there. Let you Arabs sort out your issues, and let America bleed there, if it so wants. Let us keep out of it.

Oh no - my last hope dashed.

Those three words 'in a church' made me wonder why you took the trouble to write them - could it be that you think they should be able to have civic marriages? If so then I'd be delighted.

For the record, I think religious organisations should have the choice about whether they bless gay marriages or not.

There is no law in any western country that compels any church to perform a same-sex marriage ceremony. All churches are free to object as they wish (some do, some don't).

Marriage laws pertain only to the government who have a monopoly on issuing marriage licenses which are the only thing that makes a marriage legal. Whether or not a priest makes a ceremonial blessing on the couple or not, is from a legal point of view, irrelevant.

Has Putin sent you a letter thanking you - after all, you gave the Russian military those expensive armoured vehicles, without taking any money for them. He may think you miss them and maybe he thinks it would only be polite to write and thank you?

The firm has received a reward, of sorts. In form of some very lucrative and profitable government contracts. And that is all I can and will say about that
