Default India's Fast Breeder Reactor

India's prototype Fast Breeder Reactor is scheduled to become operational in October:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protot...reeder_Reactor

Breeder reactors are considered to be a possible source of almost unlimited energy replacing the burning of fossil fuels without the problems of nuclear waste disposal.

This sounds pretty good, but from what I have read, I don't quite see the elimination of nuclear waste issue.

I don't understand the elimination of waste issue, or much of anything else about breeder reactors, but they're interesting.

This article says that fast breeders produce more fuel than they consume and are akin to akshaya patra, a goblet in Indian mythology that produces a never-ending food supply.

The article also says that breeder reactors are "notoriously unstable and difficult to run reliably over long periods," so we'll see how this one works out.

I am inherrently suspicious of a claim that technological improvement is both "unlimited energy" and without waste problems. It sounds far too messianic for me.

Indeed, I agree completely. If these nukes didn't have the nuke-waste issue the whole planet would be talking about it and celebrating.
