Default How many books instead of Bible?

This post is chiefly for non-Christians.

Some non-Christians decide to read the Bible in its entirety. I think it's a complete waste of time, they think otherwise.

I've got two questions. Think about a typical book that you like to read. Think about a typical book that you might look at standing on your bookshelf and think "Oooh, yummy." Think to yourself, how long would the book usually be, probably. What kind of book, fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction, historical non-fiction, (auto)biographies, physics, linguistics...?

Now ask yourself two questions - you've made a big decision - it's an important decision, and it's a big one - you're not going to read the Bible in its entirety. How many of your favourite, mouth-watering books will you be able to read in the time you save by not reading the Bible, even if you devote half of that time to doing something other than reading?

Here's an opinion for a non christian: The bible was written over many generations by a large number of authors in the old testament and is revered by billions of people. Therefore I argue that as a piece of literature is ranks among the world's best.

Indeed, it tells the story of the ultimate protagonist with nothing like it in fiction. So for entertainment value it is a worth while read.

I wouldn't say the same thing of the Qoran.

Thank you for that opinion.
