I've been paying less than $1.00/L for gas for the last couple of months (that's about 0.7 Euros).

Or about $3.00/gallon in US terms.

With mild winters predicted for Eastern North America, that's likely to reduce oil consumption for heating. I've read several articles predicting that oil is going to stay in the US $45/barrel range for the next year or two.

What a great time to sell strategic petroleum reserves.

US doesn't normally sell their strategic petroleum reserves.

Are you referring to some plan to sell down the US reserve?

Some dumb part of the latest cockamamie budget deal. I doubt that part will actually happen.

You're right - that's just a stupid accounting trick to get the budget numbers to line up.

And double-plus stupid given that we're presently looking at a relative low-point for oil prices. One would think that now would be a good time to add to the strategic reserve rather than reducing it.
