I might as well repeat this post!

The Republican's third attempt to kill Obamacare and replace it with some horror story of public policy has failed.

It is fucking amazing that the Republicans control the House, the Senate and White House but still can't pass the bill they've been campaigning on for over 8 years.

Epic fail. Looks good on them.

Because of this, the ONLY policy area where the two parties don't seem to matter is in foreign policy, and in particular, US intelligence agencies playing rat-fucking games against other countries. This game goes on all the time and never ends.

But to say that the two parties are the same completely ignores Republican SCOTUS appointments of partisan hacks with fascist inclinations, or the Republican party passion for appointing pro-corporate hacks to head important US government departments (like the Interior, Labor or EPA to name just three that are being utterly and completely fucked by the Trump regime). Or the Republican party doing their very best to try to strip healthcare insurance away from some 20+ million American citizens - a policy that, if enacted, would lead to an estimated increase of 10,000 and 30,000 preventable deaths PER YEAR.

I sure hope you like tainted water, selling public parks to oil companies and having basic labor laws completely ignored, while some of your fellow citizens are dying for lack of health care. That's what Republican party government brings to the table. The comparison with Obama's Democratic administration couldn't be more stark. It takes wearing some serious political blinkers and/or drinking lots of right-wing propaganda to assert otherwise.

So...is the repeal effort finally dead now? Are we moving on to a bi-partisan bill?

Also, if I may quote the fine words President Donald Trump tweeted out only three days ago:

"So great that John McCain is coming back to vote. Brave - American hero! Thank you John."

I was trying to stay up for the vote with some wine but I actually fell asleep without meaning to, which I almost never do. It was nice to wake up to good news for once. It's not common these days.

Also Reince is out as Chief of Staff, Secretary Kelly is in. Which is a little weird?

Robert Mueller has impaneled a grand jury.

Looks like things are starting to heat up around the White House.

No doubt. Sounds like the Senate is looking at ways to prevent Trump from firing Mueller, even if he replaces Sessions as AG. We've probably got months of investigation ahead of us yet, though.

EDIT: According to Reuters, Mueller has begun issuing subpoenas WRT Trump Jr.'s meeting to try and get dirt on Hillary from Russia.

I imagine the nightmare for the administration is both the president and his children separately testifying under oath about events they were mutually involved with or discussed. Trump's seeming inability to stay on script and tendency to drop blatant lies about 'who said what' could easily put them in a no-win situation of having to argue that at least one member of the first family was guilty of perjury.

I think with the amount of information flying around people expect things to happen immediately, but I think it will be a good long while before anything really comes down. But yeah, somebody is gonna have a bad day one of these days.
