Been unseasonably sunny and warm here (not that warm, but definitely sunny so who cares), and looks to be so through election day.

Lucky skiers. Anything before Turkey Day is a bonus.
Yeah, apparently it's year 3 of La Nina, so we should have another good season. I may even have to break out my snowboard.

First snow here last night. All pretty melted except for a bit on the shady part of our roof.

Facebook was flipping out last night. Get a life people, it's mid November.

This is true. I think the fact that the midwest has had the first decent-sized autumn in years is throwing people off. I think we'd had snow this time last year in Kentucky.

Really? Freaking out about a dusting?

We're supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow, which will be perfect, 'cause I need to get some compost into the garden and get the garlic into the ground. Heading to CA for work next week, and then the holiday season hits, so this is my last chance.

It's a time of year when people get stupid. In a month or two they'll have forgotten what the ground looked like at all.

Had a wicked wind and rain storm all day and most of last night. The hoop-house survived though and that's about all I can ask for. A little cold today for this time of year. Back up to above normal temps tomorrow.

What is "hoop-house"?

(I presume that's the method of construction rather than what's stored there?)

Like a greenhouse. Constructed of hoops and some kind of material covering them. Not always for plants: my dad housed chickens and pigs in a couple he had custom built.
