And there is no reason why it shouldn't be a team of the kind you list, who lift the trophy this year too. Iceland's success is only success because of Iceland's small population size. That's only logical, and the vast majority of football fans fully acknowlede that and praise Iceland accordingly, as you are doing.

This is nothing new. There is very often a situation like the above in World Cups. In 1986 West Germany played Denmark and both teams knew that the loser would play Morocco in the next round and the winner would play Spain. Denmark won 2-0 and went on to lose against Spain, while West Germany went on to win against Morocco.

Today's 2:00 PM US Eastern matches and Thursday's 10:AM matches should be extremely interesting because there's a lot on the line.

So-far, round 2 matches; France v Argentina, Spain v Russia, Uruguay v Portugal and Croatia v Denmark. Let's see what the other 4 matches in round 2 will be.

Given the huge number of obnoxious yahoos on the streets around here, I'm hoping Portugal and Croatia get eliminated real soon.

Today's matches couldn't have been more exciting with Mexico, having a great start in group, losing big-time to Sweden and needing South Korea to beat reining World Cup champion Germany in order to go though to the knock-out round.

And as interesting as the knock-out round matches already look, I'm sure as hell, the Good Lord willin' and the crick don't rise, not going to miss tomorrow's matches between Japan vs Poland and Senegal vs Columbia to determine the last two teams to go to the knockout round.

I suspect y'all will be watching too!
