Simple poll, what set of songs are your favorite Billy Joel songs? There's a lot more than 10 good ones, so I tried to organize them by theme and style. I won't be voting, so don't worry about where the first response shows, but in case anyone's curious, my faves are Allentown and Leningrad.
BTW, all of these songs can be found on youtube if you want to hear and review them, so go ahead and check them out if you want.

Oh, one more thing. Michael, the poll options can't be edited, so if you can change the "Only the Good Die Young/ For the Longest Time" option to "My Life/ River of Dreams" that'd be great.

Done.
I voted for Piano Man as I think that is by far the greatest Billy Joel song - nothing else comes close to that masterpiece.

I might add that one of the most amusing ironies about the great 70s music scene is that if one had to make a guess back then, one might have figured that 'straight-laced' Billy Joel would be the big long term success and 'wild' Elton John was going to spend the rest of his life in rehab.
Ironic that Elton turned out to have the longer term success (and no rehab) while Billy Joel has spent most of the past couple of decades bankrupt and in/out of rehab.

I don't know. I like Billy Joel in very small doses, but after a song or two I'm ready to move on.

I didn't vote, no option for I'm not a fan.
I lived through his entire career when I was paying attention to music and always considered his efforts more showmanship than providing music that I enjoyed. Very talented for his venue, which I consider pop. Pop music has never been an interest.

...but I also enjoy Scenes From An Italian Restaurant. "A bottle of red, a bottle of white..." It makes me smile just thinking about it.

I can honestly say I've never voluntarily listened to a Billy Joel song. Musical tastes are a funny things.

But a little over-played, perhaps.

I haven't heard most of those. The only ones I know of are Piano Man and We Didn't Start The Fire, so if I had to choose, I guess I'd have to go for those ones!

I haven't heard it in years.
Btw, one of the best all-time trivia questions I remember asking was "what are the occupations mentioned in the song?" Useless question if people have access to the net, but a great question for sitting around a bar. :)
