haha it is what is. Probably misguided or stupid is what I would say.

And the proved medicinal values? Misguided or stupid?

oh dear lord.... I have no real problem with legalizing the drug. I also don't particularly care if the status quo remains. My instincts are naturally inclined toward the status quo, I am a conservative after all, but it's not a big deal. My real disagreement (and inability to understand) is the language that gets used to talk about this issue. It seems to degrade actual liberty and the threats that have been and are still going on today...

My criticism goes toward the other side as well (if you want to know). When we are talking about morality, there are actual immoral acts of biblical proportions that are going on. Grouping marijuana in the same category seems to silly.

An unjust waste of money and lives( for instance, I cite the 9,365 people killed in Mexico in 2009 in drug-related gang warfare precisely because certain drugs are illegal and thus perversely profitable) is an unjust waste of money and lives. It is also a case of public policy serving greed of a few over the public interest. That must irk you morally, regardless of its source.

And the "being satisfied with the status-quo/conservatism" business reeks of intellectual laziness.

Oh come now, the Mexican drug war is not just about marijuana, but also cocaine heroin, meth, etc... The problem is not going to go away there if we just legalize marijuana. If we are talking about full legalization of all drugs that is an entire different discussion to which i have an entirely different answer.

And the "being satisfied with the status-quo/conservatism" reeks of intellectual laziness.

considering that preference of the status quo is on of the hall marks of conservative thought I can't see how i'm being intellectual lazy  If you are saying me not having a strong opinion is intellectually lazy, well I prefer to have strong opinions about bigger problems in society.

But Michael rang the bell, and i'm going to be done with this discussion.
