Big Bang or Big Bounce?: New Theory on the Universe's Birth

Our universe may have started not with a big bang but with a big bounce—an implosion that triggered an explosion, all driven by exotic quantum-gravitational effects

This looks rather radical and revolutionary... any thoughts on this?

It reminds me of one episode of Cosmos with Carl Sagan when he pointed out that Big Bang Theory has something in common with Hindu beliefs that everything goes through a cycle and ends and then a new beginning. In this it suggests a previous universe collapsed and the switch of gravity to being repulsive then makes everything expand again.
