The Newbie Guide
Welcome to Discussion World Forum! Here you will find out where to find help, as well as information about avatars, signatures and how to access other free user features.
1. Help
The FAQ (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/faq.php) button is very useful. It has a huge amount information supplied by the vBulletin forum software about how to use every feature of the system.
You can find the FAQ (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/faq.php) button in the navigation bar in most forum display windows (including this one).
You can find FAQ (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/faq.php) information listed by topic or you can search the FAQ (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/faq.php) system for particular terms.
2. Avatars
You may upload an avatar of your own choice. Uploaded Avatars may be no more than 100x100 pixels in size.
You can upload your avatar by going to your User Control Panel (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/usercp.php). You can find your User Control Panel (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/usercp.php) by going to your Profile page (by clicking on your own username for example) or by clicking on the "User CP" link in the navigation bar on any forum page.
Once you are in your User Control Panel (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/usercp.php), look down the left side of the display. There you will find individual links to various options. Find the Settings & Options heading and select Edit Avatar (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/profile.php?do=editavatar). You can choose to upload your avatar from there. Remember to select Save Changes. The display should now show your new avatar.

3. Signatures
You may customize your own signature. Signatures may be no more than 100x500 pixels if a single graphic, or ten lines of text. Smilies and most BBcodes are permitted.
You may edit or customize your signature by going to your User Control Panel (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/usercp.php). You can find your User Control Panel (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/usercp.php) going to your Profile page (by clicking on your own username for example) or by clicking on the "User CP" link in the navagation bar on any forum page.
Once you are in your User Control Panel (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/usercp.php), look down the left side of the display. There you will find individual links to various options. Find the Settings & Options heading and select Edit Signature (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/profile.php?do=editsignature). A small preview window will display your present signature.
A small text edit window will also appear and you can use that to input your signature and format it to suit your taste. There is also an upload window available for uploading graphic elements. At the bottom of the page, you should see two buttons, one is Save Signature the other is Preview Signature. Pressing the preview button will show a preview display of what your new signature looks like. Remember to press Save Signature. The system will now display your signature at the bottom of all of your posts.

Please note that changing your signature is dynamic - meaning it will apply retroactively to all of your posts, not just the new posts made after changing it.
4. Private Messages
Private Messages (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/private.php) (commonly called a "pm") is a feature, very similar to regular email, but only connects with other members at Discussion World Forum. This feature can be accessed in a variety of ways, from your Profile, from your User Control Panel (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/usercp.php) or from the Private Messages (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/private.php) link displayed under your username in the upper right corner at all times.
5. Posting a Link
Just type (or cut-n-paste) the address of the web page you want to link to in your post. That's all you have to do! The forum software will automatically turn that into an active hyperlink when you post your message.

6. Uploading Pictures or Files
Uploading a picture into your post is done when you Post a Reply. The easiest way is to just click on the Paperclip Icon () in the Post Edit window. Clicking that will open up the Manage Attachments window. There you can choose the picture or file you wish to upload. Click on the Browse button to upload from your computer, or type an URL. Don't forget to press the button marked Upload beside your selection. Once your file is uploaded to the server, you will see the name of your uploaded file displayed there. Now close the window.
Closing the Manage Attachements window will take you back to the Post Edit window. When you make your post, your uploaded file will display as a thumbnail automatically. You may only upload one file per post.

7. Member Features

You can create your own Photo Album where you can store, display and share your favorite photos. For information about this feature, please read the FAQ entry on Photo Albums (http://www.discussionworldforum.com/forum/faq.php?faq=vb3_user_profile#faq_vb3_albums).
You can also create or define your own Social Group where you can share your photos and your own discussion thread that can be either publicly viewable or to members of the group only. You can also customize the graphic appearance of your own Profile page, choosing colors, fonts and styles to make it show your unique style. 8. Miscellaneous Information
Maximum display length of a Thread Title is 64 characters.
Post size minimum is 10 characters.
Post size maximum is 12,000 characters.
Private message size maximum is 5,000 characters.
