Wow... there's some good fun bits there, but second rate to the one done by Stephen Colbert a couple years ago. This one just doens't have any 'bite'.

Unbelievably some people are already offended. He should have given out a warning that he would be telling jokes.

Yeah there's a whole thread on another board I'm on complaining that Wanda Sykes said she hopes Limbaugh's kidneys fail. LOL! As if he doesn't deserve Obama supporters making jokes about him after saying he hopes Obama fails.

True Michael, Colbert's was classic. I watched part of that online again last night. there's a youtube vid showing just Bush's face during it. He was NOT happy. LOL!!!!

And it's so funny that they even invited Colbert in the first place. Some conservatives still think Colbert means what he says.

Actually, if you watch the Colbert one, you can see the point at which the 'satire' sinks into GW Bush and you can see him look very annoyed/pissed-off.

Bushie managed to figure it out - many other high ranking rightwingers didn't.

I've been thinking but so far haven't found a single European top politician, i.e. president or Prime Minister, that would be

capable of doing a stand-up
be inclined to do a stand-up
be expected to do a stand-up

like this.

I mean, Angela Merkel ? Sarkozy ? Brown ? Let alone Balkenende (NL) or Van Rompuy (BE).

Would that be coincidence or a significant difference between the cultures

Blair could easily.

Most Brit PM's can do it, as could most Canadian PM's. Parliament trains this particular quality with the daily Question Period. I'll admit that Brown and Harper are both very lame, but we've had lots of great orators in the past who could toss barbs with ease. Pierre Trudeau was legendary at that game. He was a masterful entertainer.

that was amazing to watch Bush squirm, under Colbert's fire. He pulled no punches, and was intellectually brilliant. I thought Sykes did a bang up job...but she's no Colbert.
