Get ready to be pissed off. This video is a example of why American is the laughing stock of the west. When I watch shit like this I get so angry. The View is a very popular talk show on U.S. television in which four or five female celebrities debate controversial issues. In this video they are discussing "Darwinism". First I hate it when people say Darwinism instead of evolution. Nobody calls gravity Newtonism or the theory of relativity Einsteinism. Second of all they pretty much agree that both "Darwinism" and creationism should both be taught without one of them mentioning that creationism isn't science and the controversy is in regards to science (biology) classes.

As far as I knew, the only member of the 'reality community' that was on that show got kicked off of it (Rosie O'Donnell).

I'm no fan of Rosie, but at least her views were within the mainstream. This show is waaaaaaaaaay out there. ABC-Disney corporation there - no surprise at all.

LOL!

I love it when Sherri Shepherd says her son will be learning what she teach him about her faith, - this is the same show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNC117UYsHs) where she admitted to having no idea if the world is flat or not

The View makes me want to vomit. Every clip I've ever seen is utterly horrible. It worries me that it's been on the air as long as it has. That means there are people that watch it regularly. Imagine the dumbest, most intellectually void discussions you've ever seen in an online forum, put them on TV, add commercials, and you have The View.

Or Oprah. Or Fox News. Or Meet-the-Press - or even a Presidential Press Conference.

Seriously, is this show anything less vapid and moronic than these other infotainment shows?

I think the participants play quite an important part in rendering this show in particular vapid and moronic :D

Yeah, seriously, it's the worst.

I think exactly the same can definitely said of Meet-the-Press or any of the Sunday morning US political talk shows.

It is the participants/hosts/guests that elevate these shows to levels of moronism that one has trouble fathoming. Insipid opinions and out-right lies are the order of the day.

US Presidential Press Conferences are also noted for the extreme blovating of pompus press people posing as intelligent people while asking moronic questions.

I don't disagree. It often takes some intelligence, though, or at least a minimal level of insight, to hand over a decent political hogwash but even that seems way too advanced for this Shepherd person :D

It's not that bad, is it ? At least there's some oppositional voices in it. I once saw the documentary Jesus Camp (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486358/) and bloody hell, that was something else.

I really enjoyed Jesus Camp. Most "documentaries" made these days are the Michael Moore type that just have the person make it lay out their case in a exaggerated fashion. Jesus Camp was great because they got permission to film the camp and let the footage speak for itself. And yes what you see in that film is very common here in the U.S.

Yep. Here we have the Southern Baptist who are most notorious for being die hard ultra conservatives. However, we have even more members of Churches of Christ (not to be confused with Church of Christ Scientists) who I would say are slightly worse even.

I was raised in Texas and am very familiar with the Southern Baptist mentality, such as it may be. They're all praying for a return to social values circa 1840 when cotton and white men were king.

Isn't the Church of Christ Mormon? Or am I thinking of something else?

Nope not Mormon. Some of their more famous tenants is that they frown on non-married people of the opposite sex even slow dancing. They also don't have any musical instruments in their services. It's all singing and very glum. -

Not if they are married. If not married then not at all. That sort of reminds me of the movie Kandahar in which a doctor in Afghanistan has to examine female patients that way.

No, that's the hasidic jews.

That's the Church of Latter Day Saints. The Latter Day Saints were the white "native Americans," who were actually Jews who matriculated to North America, that followed Jesus when he appeared to them after his crucifixion. Or "crucifiction" as I like to say. ;)

And, about the View, I was watching one day a couple years ago before Rosie got booted. She had been spouting on about 9-11 truth, so I thought I'd see what was going to happen next. Anywho, Joy brought up that she had found some interesting tidbits about happiness written by Epicures (). Elisabeth actually agreed with all of Epicures' requirements for happiness except that he left out going to church. She then argued that Epicures (341BCE-~270BCE) should have been going to church. They tried to explain that he lived before Jesus was even born, but that was no excuse to miss church, continued Elisabeth. It was great television. Makes me want to hurt people.

Sacrificing a goat to Zeus ought to count in lieu of going to church right? :D

Jesus Camp made me so angry. Not scared, or worried for the future of 'Murica and stuff. Just angry at people who make kids cry.

Anyway, the View. Such absolute shit. It was on as background noise this morning while Rita was cleaning for her mom's visit. I changed it to a news show... every single news channel was talking about Miss fucking California. Ugh.

The View is so bad, many countries have bought into the concept. In a way, we're worse than the US. It's just not that easy to notice.

I'll should have Jesus Camp very soon. Just reminded me that I wanted to watch it. Should give me nightmares.
