View Full Version : Change in New Posts methodology

The way this board registers when you were last visiting and which threads you have read has been changed.

It used to be cookie based. This meant that after a visit all threads that had new posts in them were marked as read as soon as you became inactive again regardless of whether you had actually visited them.

Now it's registered individually per thread. This means that if you come back after some inactivity the threads that were new at the time of your last visit will still be considered new if you hadn't actually visited them.

This change will cause all threads to be marked as new initially because there is no history of individual markings.

Please provide some feedback on this change :)

I like it. Definitely a better way to do it, IMO.

Yes I agree. That "new posts" feature is now actually useful to me. Previously I never bothered with it as it just showed me a list of my own posts!

I don't have the time to drill down in each forum to read posts from 10-08 that I missed (tried it), so I'll have to live with the new post flags dominating my screen.

Once you've read the threads with actual new posts, click on Quick Links and choose 'Mark Forums Read'.
All threads will then be considered as read and New Posts will show nothing.

Ah, I love quick, efficient solutions. Thank you sir.

The thing I like best about it is the option to see the posts of the last 24 hours once the New Posts are exhausted. Nice memory aide for the "Alzheimer" sufferers such as yours truly.

Donkey gets a kiss from the Grand Poobah for bringing this to our attention :D

Perfect, since I don't wash my hair! (Just condition it sometimes.)
