My wife refers to me as the goy and bah humbug this time of year. Even though I'm not much on ritualistic celebrations, the side benefits are good stuff. Today was baking for tins of chocolate chipped cookies with nuts and raisins plus fudge for the out-of-town worthies. My exercise schedule is in place.

I'm not big on tradition or holidays but since having kids I've opened up to them mainly because it's a blast having fun with the kids. I'm sure when they are teenagers and get over the whole holiday spirit I will go back to being the old scrooge I used to be. :)

It's just the carols that get me. They're so cheesy. Christams carols are the purest form of torture. Also, Christmas is the gaudiest holiday. Everything is such an assault on the senses. But humbug I cannot be, because OH MY do I love to buy and wrap presents!!!! Anyone who hates wrapping presents, send 'em my way. It"s my favorite thing to do.

I do wish there was a Christmas free day of the week at least. This season would be better if Christmas wasn't so overwhelming in every situation. You can't leave the house, turn on the radio, or turn on the television without it bombarding you.

Ah, yule.
Alcohol, weed, hangovers, good food and cash in hand. Also, no exams to worry about.
I love this stuff.

The Christian 'big event' does follow outdoor harvest and weed curing season, plenty of reason to celebrate.

Indeed it is. Some excellent product just arrived! :)
Merry happy ho-ho-ho to one and all!
Anyone have any interesting plans for the holidays?

The snow and ice gods have ignored my pleas for clear weather so I'll be shuttling Santa & goodies down the hill on the quad to the truck to get to her to her appearances. Then back up the hill on the quad where I'll do my best at traditional holiday over-indulgence.

I'm curious if others have Dec 26 as a holiday? Certainly UK and Canada, but is this a full holiday anywhere else?
Despite this day being a supposedly good shopping day (Boxing Day Sales), I've always loved this day as the perfect 'do nothing' day after the hectic event of xmas. Perfect day for pigging out on all that christmas specialty cooking and cookies and reading the new books one got for xmas. :D

Most businesses are open, it's also I believe the second biggest retail shopping day in the US. Holiday closeouts.

Right now the kids are making the biggest mess playing with their news toys, the wife is out shopping, and I'm listening to some albums I downloaded with the iTunes gift cards I got. I guess we all do our own thing.

Friday is cleaning day at my house, regardless of the date. I can stay in my office until around 10:30am and then they banish me from the house until 4pm.

Our house is screwed right now because of the kids. I know that when Christie gets home it will be cleaning time. I hope I built up enough capital dealing with the kids while she had a headache last night that she lets me off the hook today.
