One of Russia's most infamous rappers has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for mocking police.

Ivan Alexeyev, aka Noize MC, taunted police as "animals" at a concert in the southern city of Volgograd on 31 July.

His song Kuri Bambuk includes the lyrics: "Citizen! Halt. Halt. Turn out your pockets, slap, slap. Now your kidneys, kick, kick. Well off you go. Forget it, swallow it, be silent."

"They [the police] did not like this song," a spokesman for the rapper said.
'Restore justice'

According to BBCRussian.com, the trouble began during Noize MC's live show, when the drummer approached the audience and invited them to throw coins into a cap.

When a police officer asked the band to stop begging, Noize MC responded by performing Kuri Bambuk, a song about police brutality.

After the concert, the 25-year-old performer was approached by police and taken into custody, where he was held for 48 hours. On Monday a court found him guilty of disorderly conduct and sentenced him to 10 days in prison.

Noize MC is renowned for his provocative lyrics. His most famous song, Restore Justice (Mercedes S-666) is based on a road accident involving Anatoly Barkov, vice-president of Russia's oil giant Lukoil.

Two women were killed when their car collided head-on with Mr Barkov's Mercedes in Moscow in February. Mr Barkov has denied that he or his driver were at fault.

Well, I don't like the rappers, I think the way they dress and act is ridiculous; but he was brave to do what he did. And now he will pay for it. It is only 10 days, sure, but they will probably throw him to the urki, violent, crazy thugs on steroids they keep for exactly such purpose.

I'm not a fan of rap music. I do think any artist performing within defined cultural and government defined boundaries had best refrain from criticizing the government unless free speech is a right.

Could be good publicity to expand his venue. If he became a star outside Russia the question would be is the entry price worth the fame. If the cellmates are living on steroids he won't have to worry about being gang raped by by dicks. Which will really piss them off.

They won't rape him. Just beat him so bad he'll be lucky if he'll ever walk again... I know a guy who once angered the local head of police department here. The Colonel had him arrested and put with some urki. They bashed his head into a wall, the guy was in a coma for weeks, still can't walk.

The urki are insane... I mean, most of them are in there for really violent murders and such kind of crimes.

Sounds no different than a US prison. Unless protected by one of the gangs, he'd get the rape and beatings.

I went down to the muffler shop a friend owns and operates to hang out, drink beer, enjoy some smoke and talk.

One of the group of friends who gathered is a guard (legal cop status) at a local state juvenile dentition facility. He and four other officers, at probably 6'2" 210lbs (apology for being burdened with a measuring system utilized in maybe three countries) he's the smallest, entered a cell containing a 17 year old detained for assaulting a police officer in a confrontation. At 6'4", 280lbs. The kid(?) had smeared feces over the observation window and cell camera lens.

The team opened the cell door and the kid showered them all in the face and upper body with his urine collected in two juice containers and attacked them.

The story ended with the kid being left in a hallway enclosed in a face mask and strapped to a stretcher with only breathing ability permitted. My friend said the other inmates will beat him near to death because when an incident of that nature occurs all air conditioning, running water and food is suspended for 24 hours.

lol Sounds like the Russian prison colonies (except they don't have running water, sewer systems or conditioners in any case at any time, save maybe in the Director's office, for his own use; and the guarsd have a washroom of their own, but usually its just a hole in the floor; prisoners get a bucket in a corner of their cell called parasha or shitjar).

It just goes to show that the police of some countries take themselves too seriously and have no sense of humour. Damned PIGS .... I mean COPS... I mean ... oh shit, got to run, I can hear the sirens already.
