This thing has generated an oil slick the size of West Virginia and continues to release 45,000 gallons of crude oil per day into the Gulf. The rig owner is stating it could take 60-90 days to stop the flow, with no guarantees.

Anyone want to bet that 20-years from now BP will still be fielding legions of lawyers to avoid picking up the tab for environmental damage?

Any idea what caused the explosion yet? And did they find any survivors? It was this thread that inspired my War on the War on Weeds thread. Charlie Crist was out in a helicopter looking at the oil slick yesterday. Why he thought it was important to see it first hand I don't know. Governors privilege I guess.
When I heard the 45,000 gallon figure yesterday I was trying to calculate how many barrels of oil per minute that was. Jesus! Imagine coating the state of W. Virginia in a layer of oil. Do you think folks would notice?

Oil-spill baby, oil spill!

And Obama was kind enough to allow us to have even more of this!
