"The only thing scantily clad women cause is pants tremors" Stephen Colbert.
In reference to the bloody Muslim cleric who said that the way women dress was what induced God's wrath in the form of earth quakes. Of course, another earth quake happened like, the next day.

Leave it to the clerics to blame natural disasters on "sin." Pat Robertson blamed Hollywood, Ellen Degeneres and gays for Katrina and then blamed the Haitians for their "pact with the Devil" for the earthquake.

You know...? Just STFU, all y'all. Blame your god. He started all this nonsense. Original sin, my ass.

well, I fully and completely buy into the concept of Original Sin, but don't buy into this crap. Pat Robertson is nothing short of a fear mongering heretic of the first order. People need to read their Bibles better.

Boobies, boobies, boobies!!!! jiggly, jiggly, jiggly all over the place. Ha!!! take that God!! Mom was wandering around with no clothes a little while ago. Is it a greater sin or a lesser sin to expose a 73 year old breast?

I think most Christians would agree but then again, I've been surprised before. ;) Still, I would be interested to know what aspects of Robertson's beliefs are heretical in your opinion.

I realize heresy constitutes a continuum but I'm always interested to see where Christians determine heresy amongst themselves. Of course, not being Christian, I either find everything he believes to be heresy or rather, nothing. Not sure how that works.:D

Still...booobs.

Boobquakes sound like something you would order at the soda counter in an old time-y ice cream shop. "I'll have a boobquake and can I have whipped cream and sprinkles on it?"

heh... Well in Christian theology there is a continuum of orthodoxy. The Nicene Creed sets limits on what is orthodoxy and what isn't, but those limits are very broad. You can talk about a lot before you start wandering into forbidden places. Anything outside of those limits can be called heresy. Scripture, combined with tradition, experience, and reason usually also sets limits on theology

Specifically applied to Robertson, there are a couple things I take massive issue with: First, he constantly claims that God speaks to him directly. This is how he claims to be able to predict things. This, in my opinion, makes him fall into a very old heresy called Montanism. Montanists claimed they received revelation from God apart from scripture. Second, the man is an advocate of Dominionism (the belief that the nation should be governed specifically by Christians and Biblical law) and that falls into several very wrong categories. That belief violates several historic understandings of what the church is (read Augustine, Luther, Calvin, etc...) and a whole lot of scripture (John 18:36, Matthew 22:15-22, Romans 13, etc...). Last, his constant comments about natural disasters as God's punishment just blatantly ignores the Noah story where God makes an unconditional covenant never to do that sort of thing. I don't know if that last point is heresy, but at the very least it's bad Biblical interpretation.

Makes me think of the Westboro Baptist Church....some disturbing beliefs they have going on there.

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpphhFAiYsY) is probably one of the most sick and disturbing things I have ever seen.

With the exception of that church's stance on U.S. soldiers their views are really pretty much in line with what many people believe on this side of the state. It's odd because people will go out of their way to condemn them while agreeing with them on everything from their stances on homosexuality to their belief that disasters are punishments for sin and a sign of the end of the world. It seems the biggest problem people in the bible belt have with them is that they don't sugar coat the message enough.

Thank you so much! It's not the size of the thing, it's the yardstick used to measure it that interests me. ;) it's a corrupt thread to begin with so I thought I'd just carry on with it.
But seriously, very interesting and thanks again.

Wow, yes. I've experienced some rather awkward moments when a religious friend criticizes Westboro but without so much as a blush, turns right around and promotes the same ideology with only slightly more saccharine.

I've been told breast reduction is quite common due to those big balls of fat creating back problems from carrying around the weight.

TDG won't have it

Eh, I probably wouldn't put myself through it anyways, but it is nice to fantasize about. Sometimes it is hard to buy shirts because the ladies are too big or even buying bras. Goodness! I have to spend at least $50-60 each just to find one that fits. Now, if my boobs created money I wouldn't have a problem, but they don't.

And, something else that gets me with boobs, people can look and say, "hey she has a big/small rack!" But, one can never tell about a man and his package  well until you see it.

Many young women have paid their way through higher education by utilizing their existing (or enhanced) equipment. I'd rather have done that than washing dishes for pennies but wasn't properly equipped. In the spirit of America, serious debt now seems to be the road to higher education.

 No. Per bra. That is a lot though, when a female with a small D cup or smaller can find them at WalMart or J.C. Pennys for $15-$30. Where going to Victoria Secrets is a "luxury" to some that is the first place I have to go.

Yeah. Sometimes I joke about how small mine are, but I've never had to put up with that and I am eternally grateful for it.

Today is the first day I've worn a bra in a couple months, and I only did it because I was volunteering and had to look decent (which is a concept that pisses me off to no end, but whatever).

I'm an anthropologist. I've seen many, many breasts. There are things that you can't unsee. Consistently, it is never the size that matters to non-Westerners. If a young woman is walking around in a place where top clothing is not really customary, the older women will always make fun of her perkiness and lack of droop that would be indicative of being a real woman, someone who has given birth and suckled a baby. It only seems to be in places where the breasts are sexualised AND covered up as a consequence that size even enters the cultural conversation. However, this isn't an area of my "official" research. The penis has some even more bizarre customs and beliefs surrounding it.
