In filling out the thread on my favourite movies, I was struck by the need to create a thread that related to picking each others' brains for movies we just can't remember. I have a notoriously poor memory which is why I write a lot of stuff down. So, this thread is to serve the purpose of posing questions and giving descriptions of movies we've seen or wanted to see but just can't remember the names of. Links to websites with answers would be an added bonus.
I'll go first:
I'm trying to remember a movie I saw during my time in Columbia, MO (2000-2004), so I know the movie is at least as old as 2004 or older. It was a very confusing movie seemingly about the Russian aristocracy and was supposedly shot in a single sequence, that is, there were no breaks in the filming and no cutting and splicing later on. There were definitely elements of fiction if not fantasy on the subject. The movie was subtitled for English viewers but I can't remember if the movie was Russian or something else. Anyone know the film I'm talking about?

Yes I do!
I remember hearing about that on NPR, I believe. I couldn't remember the name, but I think this is what you saw?

I'll necro-post this thread because I've become stumped again. Please understand that my young brain ingested thousands of hours of TV from the time I was probably 6 months old (so my mother so "proudly" states - I try not to think bad things when she does so).
Anyway, I have this movie scene stuck in my head and I can't think of what it's from. It was a sort of kid's horror movie I guess. Definitely late 70s or early 80s. There is a ghost of a little French girl from some vague historical period and she keeps appearing, I think, to another modern girl to convey what happened to her and why she's lingering on "this side" after she died. There is something to do with abuse or fear of adults from the ghost. She's always portrayed with this sort of blue glow as well. That's all I've got. My brain synapses will give me no more information than this. Any clues would be appreciated - the placement of this movie in my childhood is the real mystery I'd like to solve.

Is it a Disney movie? I know that might sound funny, but I think you're looking for Child of Glass (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVcolCQBKyc) :ummm:

This is the one! Thanks so much - I had a hell of a time trying to fit those details into a search engine. It was in fact a Disney movie and I knew that but thought I was out of my mind given what the movie is about. The disturbing thing is that this was shown when I was about 3 years old - no wonder I still get creeped out by child ghosts to this day. Movies like The Others and The Ring I refuse to see because they creep me out so much. Thank you Disney!

More like a list of what to avoid doing that my parents did that I'm aware of the consequences of. Like showing him television on a daily basis for hours. I can't walk into a bar/restaurant/house with a TV on and avoid snapping my head towards the friendly glowing box. Thanks mom!

One of my favorite quotes...
"But, Ronnie, I ain't got no baby sitter."
"Well, you got a TV, dontcha?"
"Yeah."
"Well, there ya go!"

I have only one recommendation for parents of small children.
Get rid of your tv before the child is old enough to watch it. A few people I know who've done this say it was the best thing they could ever have done for their kids. They say Christmas is a quite pleasant family experience without temper-tantrum children demanding thousands of dollars worth of gifts.

We have a television but I limit what the kids watch to just a hour or so per day. This is easy since they are in day care most of the day anyway. Then when I do let them watch it's usually kid shows on PBS which are commercial free other than a quick mention before they get started.
