Okay, this is odd. This (long) essay comes from AEI - American Enterprise Institute - which has a very questionable political reputation in my book. But the essay is a good one and quite well written - on a topic that I can't help but to be attracted to. :o

Why Tocqueville on China?
An Introductory Essay

I think the author James Caeser (interesting name that is!) makes a very good argument for the applicability of Alex de Tocqueville's theories to modern China and offers analysis of the present state of Chinese political stability (in terms of Tocqueville). I really enjoyed reading this article so I figured I'd share it here for the one or two who might be interested in either Alex de Tocqueville or Chinese politics. :)

Feel free to use this thread to discuss either of the two of them, or the article or whatever. :D
