Does anybody think this is possible?
I know that she is considered a possible drag on the McCain ticket but with four more years of experience I think she could do as well as Bush did. I think I'm going to start saving up for donations to the democratic campaign and 427s now just in case.

I think she only has a chance (and not a terribly large one at that) if McCain wins in November and chooses to only stay for one term. I can't imagine her getting a nomination if her ticket loses and she has to fight for it; everything she brings to the ticket is available in other candidates who have more experience, are better qualified, and can look at least marginally presidential: Huckabee, for example.
And she's already utterly alienated moderates. Memories of McCain reaching across party lines may keep some of them voting Republican this time around, but without McCain, Palin would be looking at a very small (if very energetic) far right base.
Personally, there's still a decent chance I'll vote McCain next month (and then pray more ardently than ever that he doesn't die in the next four years), but if it were just Palin...then, yeah, I'd be sending money to the Dems too.

It sure as heck looks like she's being set up for a 2012 run - she's made quite a few trips to Iowa and NH in particular. Odd places for her to be campaigning in.

I don't think it's any stretch to imagine that she will want to run in 2012. She seems to be more popular than John McCain and is hyper ambitious politcally. Of course, she's also more divisive among the populace, but that didn't stop George W. Bush from winning two elections.
I don't doubt her name will be out there in four years (assuming the Republicans lose this year). Do I see her winning the presidency in four years? I can't say I do.

Are you guys saying that the 2012 election promises to be just as amusing and entertaining as 2008? Cool.

I just can't see her on the top of a ticket, especially since a lot of the Republican establishment seem to be blaming her for McCain's campaign tanking.

I would agree with you had Bush not won two elections in a row. She has time to work on the negatives and in a better economic environment I think she would have a chance.

Lots of buzz going around about the prospects if Stevens actually wins his Senate seat - but then resigns (due to his corruption conviction handed down yesterday).
According to Alaskan law, the Governor can't appoint a replacement - they have to have a special election.
Many are suggesting that Palin herself would run for it (and likely win it).
